Dunkelzahn's Limo Explodes outside Innauguration Party!

I am not sure if I have the words chummers. As always we take things with a byte of salt, but it appears that the newly elected President of the UCAS, the Great Dragon Dunkelzahn has been assassinated. As he was leaving an innauguration party this evening, his limosine disappeared in an explosion that rocked nearby buildings. Pieces of the escort vehicals were littering the streets, but no trace of the presidential limo, or the driver, or the dragon himself have been found.

Dunkelzahn's VP Kyle Haeffner will become the new president... at least for the interim pending an investigation into the incident. More info as we get it.

This is a game changer folks. We can only wait and see what happens next.

Putting the political ramifications aside for the moment what could do this? I'm familiar with nearly all forms of destruction and I'm coming up blank for a purely physical means to accomplish what was accomplished.

Could someone out there comment on the possibility of magical means? What could make a car completely disappear in an explosion with no parts remaining?

I'd also like to hear anyone’s comments as to who. Brackhaven and his lot are the obvious culprits for racially motivated reasons. Seems like they would be better served by regrouping and attacking politically though. I'm losing sight of who benefits. I'll be keeping an eye out for that.

Does anyone know if DZ had a will?

Kenneth Brackhaven may not have liked DZ but he's not the one getting the big chair in the oval office. Our new president Kyle Haeffner gains the most power from this assassination.

What's Brackhaven gain? Buttkiss! Kyle Haeffner had the same political stance as DZ.

And since DZ didn't get so much as a day in office it's imposible to know if/how he would have done things vs. the way Kyle Haeffner will do them.

Kenneth Brackhaven is one of the good old boys from Humanis Policlub. Humanis has no magic, so if they are behind it they had to hire outside of there little club...

Funny that you should mention that. It does indeed seem that a will has been produced with Dunkelzhan's last will and testament. Considering the untold trillions that the dragon must be worth. It will be interesting to see where that money goes. Following the money is always... interesting.

I mean, sure how often does a dragon die, but I think that amongst dragons they then end up contesting over the hoard to see who gets it whole hog. First off i would like to say that if you dont know much about dragon society you shouldn't claim something is unheard of. Dragons are people too and D is the most forward thinking dragon in the world. Yes I said is not was. There is no way that much damage could have been done to D and his limo without destroying the surrounding area. If D is gone it is because he wanted to disappear. I think the whole thing was more likely a staged event for him to leave without any questions being asked. Why would he do this? there are an endless number of reasons that i can think of but i will return to the point about the will. Dragons have died presidents have died a dragon president is a pretty obvious assassination target purely from a glory seeking perspective so it is obvious that D would have made a will. Also if you dont buy the fact that dragons make wills normally then it would speak fairly strongly to my argument that D chose to disappear and made sure all his affairs were in order before he left.

I'm with V on this one. I think it's probably safe to say no other dragons jacked into the matrix but DZ made a point of it and saw the vaule. The will doesn't seem out of charachter to me.

Alright, Vangard. Pony up. You've got 'countless' reasons why the big D might want to disapear after winning the presidency. I want to hear three that I can't poke holes in without thinking about it. I gots nothing but I'm not familiar with the magic side of things.

That's what racially motivated means. You don't do it for gain.

And if Kyle Haefner had the same political stance as DZ then his political goals would be better served by leaving DZ in office.

So lets walk through some facts
D and his VP have the same political agenda
D is a dragon and a great public speaker VP isn't a dragon and i haven't heard any of his speeches
so if D wanted to have someone with his same ideals in office it would be easiest to run for president himself and then disappear before actually spending a day in office.
Why now? because as it has already been pointed out he hasn't been in office for a single day so no one can compare the way he runs things to the way his vp runs things. so people cant be disappointed by the downgrade in the way things are run.
D is on of the most powerful being in the meta planes at this point in time and running our country while it might be important doesn't need to take all of his attention if he can just have someone else do it for him while he attends to more important matters that only he can attend to.
What kind of matters? well for starters this plane is being invaded by bug spirits and fighting the ones already here is important and a good start, but fighting them at the source would be infinitely more valuable.
I think the real question is not why but how. And for that even someone who has studied magic almost their entire life it is not something that has a simple explanation but once again D was a Great dragon it is possible that he came up with a way to do what he would have had to have done in order to accomplish transcendence into the meta planes.

A pity, but not entirely unexpected in this chaotic world.
At least business should be up...

Say it ain't so! I just can't believe that the biggest baddest snuggliest plushiest dragon ever has gone to the great aviary in the sky... or would that be the great cave hoard in the sky? He was gonna be AWESOME! I already ordered a shirt that says "My President can EAT your President" And he totally would have! If YOU were any other country are YOU gonna get all up in the grill of a country ruled by a dragon? I rest my case.

Needless to say, I'm a bit miffed.

I'd like to point that I HAVE done my homework on dragons. In fact they were my thesis topic for my masters at UCLA. And I can tell you that from what we know of dragon society, even if that isn't MUCH, is that when one dragon dies, another dragon often claims their possessions as their own. If there is more than one dragon, they fight over the spoils. When Nachtmeister was slain by Schwartzkopf in Germany, Schwartzkopf took the hoard, simple as that. As for the rest, well we have this stuff called "lore" which is what scholars have gleaned from myths, legends, and sometimes heresay. They thing is, myth and legend can't be discounted as a fabrication when so much in the Sixth world has proven to be true; such as the mere existence of magic and dragons.

OK, V. Putting someone with his ideals into office then taking the bug-spirit fight to the source is a good one.
